GTU First Year Semester 1 Syllabus
First semester common subjects for all branches of GTU engineering — mathematics, basic sciences, mechanics, graphics, programming and communication.
Mathematics-I
Calculus of single and several variables — limits, integration, sequences and series, partial derivatives and vector calculus.
Engineering Chemistry
Applied chemistry for engineers — water technology, metals & alloys, corrosion, fuels, polymers, fibers and analytical techniques.
Engineering Physics
Physics of materials and waves — acoustics, ultrasonics, crystal & band theory, lasers, optical fibers, conductors and new engineering materials.
Mechanics of Solids
Engineering mechanics and strength of materials — statics, trusses, friction, simple machines, stresses, strains and beams.
Engineering Graphics
Technical drawing fundamentals — engineering curves, projections of points, lines, planes and solids, orthographic and isometric views.
Computer Programming & Utilization
Foundations of programming using C and C++ — computer basics, data types, control structures, functions, pointers and object-oriented concepts.
Communication Skills
English and professional communication — verbal & non-verbal communication, listening, presentations, interviews, technical writing and grammar.
